Project Overview

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) came to Mega-Tech with a unique challenge: Fully outfitting a Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle for front-line paramedic response. As EV platforms become more prevalent in emergency fleets, this build required careful integration of emergency lighting systems across a vehicle architecture designed without traditional EMS wiring in mind. This includes a dedicated custom battery bank that does not reduce drive distance and charges alongside the drive battery. The result is a fully functional, high-visibility paramedic response vehicle; proof that modern EVs can be outfitted to professional emergency service standards.

Challenges Overcome

  • thunder EV Integration: The Mach-E's fully sealed front end and EV-specific body panels required custom mounting solutions for grille-area light heads with no traditional mounting points
  • thunder Lighting Coverage on a Crossover Profile: The Mach-E's sloping roofline and lower ride height demanded precise lightbar positioning to meet sight-line requirements for emergency response
  • thunder Liftgate Lighting: Surface-mount light heads were integrated into the liftgate so lighting remains active and visible even when the rear cargo area is open at a scene
  • thunder Glass Roof: A custom mount for the lightbar required due to the all-glass roof
